Rome Fiumcino -Porto Santo Stefano (159km) – 2hrs drive
Pisa-Porto Santo Stefano (202km) – 2.20 hrs drive
By train
Orbetello Monte Argentario is the closest train station. From Orbetello you take the bus to Porto Santo Stefano or a taxi (app. 30 euro)
Boat from Porto Santo Stefano-Giglio Island (1 hrs)
You can leave your car in a parking in Porto S. Stefano, there is no reason to bring the car to Giglio.
From there you take the ferry (check timetable of Toremar and Maregiglio to Giglio Island.
Once you get to the harbour of Giglio Island, a boatman, will be waiting for you in the orange tent in the harbour, to take you straight to the hotel, as it is only reachable by sea (10 min) or walking (2 hrs).
Disembark on the island to reach the Hermitage:
By sea It is necessary to hire a boatswain (25 euros). If you notify us at least an hour before boarding the ferry, we can book this for you: the boat driver will be waiting for you on landing on the right at the yellow kiosk. Passage is free during periods when a boat trip is provided for the needs of the Hermitage.
On foot (approx. 2 hours) it is necessary to reach Giglio Castello by bus or taxi and from there follow the Strada della Panoramica to the left until the crossroads that indicate Cala degli Alberi and the beginning of path no.24. The path is rocky ;; comfortable shoes and a light backpack are recommended.
